Ebay Seller 'djfrayne' - A Dis-Reputable Seller
On 23-Mar-2006 I was the winning bidder of a supposedly brand-new, Australian stock Nokia 6822 tri-band GSM mobile phone which was being sold by Ebay seller 'djfrayne' (who is located in Brisbane, Queensland).I paid the seller using PayPal the next day after the sale, and the seller wanted me to pay $30 for 'Express Post'. I was prepared to do that only because he told me in email the phone was local stock, ready to ship from Brisbane after my payment!
Well a week goes by and nothing arrives. Remember he's claimed he'll send the phone using 'Express Post' so allowing for a weekend, it should have arrived 4 actual days after I'd paid for it. I tried emailing him and out of about 5 attempts, I received one reply saying 'the phone is coming - be patient since it will be there soon'. Sure... I almost knew from that moment that he both did not have the phone and that he was either trying to get one from another country or was just playing for time and using my money. 8-)
He never provided me with a tracking number when I asked for one - Express Post items have a tracking number which forms part of the Express Post delivery guarantee system...
I did a bit of initial investigation a few days after the first week has passed and found that the paypal account my payment went into wasn't even in the name of the seller, but someone else! The seller has never acknowledged who the other person is to this day - perhaps a business partner?
After two weeks nothing had arrived ('Express Post' has a 1-business-day delivery guarantee from Brisbane to Sydney!) so I engaged the services of PayPal's resolution centre and within a day I had a full refund. However the seller would not provide an explanation, and since he had clearly outright lied to me and scammed the postage, I had no choice but to leave negative feedback for the seller which you can read. You are also able to check his ID history.
Checking the seller's feedback profile showed he'd been receiving negative feedback points regularly from many different buyers all complaining about similar things - ie. never receiving items, getting sent used items when they're supposed to be new, etc.
The seller has had the gaul to try and suck his way out of the negative feedback by engaging Squaretrade to negotiate, but he didn't even reply to some of the emails from the mediator that they appointed to the case, so they dropped the case!
On 28-Apr-2006 the seller emailed me to ask if I'd remove the negative feedback 'because it's hurting his business'. But he should look at his own negative feedback performance and check how many other people are also complaining before trying to suck-up...
You are strongly advised to NEVER deal with this seller as he lies about product availability and condition, and extorts through excessive postage charges!
