ID Verify Scam - Initial Email Received on Thursday, March 4, 2004

This type of email is designed to upload a malicious MS Windows virus file to your PC - be careful!

On Thursday, March 4, 2004 an email message was received claiming to be legitimate Ebay correspondence. It quickly became clear that the message was a fake when I noticed the URL provided did not go to an Ebay machine, but quite clearly went to a totally different site.

This is a completely new slant on the Ebay scams I've come across so far.

Using a faked email to attempt to trick you into downloading an executable virus file from an Asian file server is something different, but it will probably become much more common as virus creators come up with novel ways to propagate their malicious software.
